Privacy policy

This page explains what information Litstream Pro LLC ("we", "our") collects about the people who use the platform, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

We collect information from two kinds of users: sellers (people who purchase a storefront from us and resell ebooks) and end customers (people who buy an individual ebook from a storefront). The data we collect is different for each, and we cover them separately below.

Information we collect from sellers

Account information

Email address, name, password (stored hashed), the subdomain you chose, and any branding you upload (logo, banner, hero copy, accent color). Provided directly by you when you create your storefront.

Payment information

Card details are handled exclusively by Stripe - we never see or store full payment card numbers. Your payments to Litstream Pro (storefront setup, catalog add-ons, monthly platform fee) are processed through our payment partner Webly Studio, Inc.'s Stripe account. We store a Stripe customer ID, the amount and date of each transaction, and the last four digits of the card for receipt display. See Stripe's privacy policy for how they handle card data.

Stripe Connect onboarding data

When you connect a Stripe account to receive end-customer payouts, Stripe collects your tax ID, bank account, government-issued ID, and other KYC information. We see only your Stripe Connect account ID, whether charges and payouts are enabled, and any outstanding requirements Stripe has flagged. The underlying KYC data lives with Stripe, not with us.

Reading activity

When you read one of your own ebooks in the seller dashboard reader, we record the session start, last page seen, IP address, user agent, and per-page access timestamps. We use this for debugging and for a forensic trail in the event of a content dispute.

Information we collect from end customers

Account information

Email address (used for magic-link sign-in; we never ask for a password). Optionally, a display name and a marketing-email preference.

Payment information

Card details are handled by Stripe. On a seller's storefront, your payment goes directly to that seller's own Stripe account via Stripe Connect. On a Litstream Pro house store, your payment is processed through our payment partner Webly Studio's Stripe account. In both cases we store a Stripe customer or payment ID associated with the storefront, the amount and date of each purchase, and the receipt URL Stripe generates.

Identity verification at checkout

For chargeback protection, we may ask end customers to verify their identity at checkout by uploading a government-issued photo ID. The image is encrypted in transit and at rest, kept only as long as the dispute window remains open (180 days from the purchase date for most card networks), and is used solely to defend against fraudulent chargebacks. After the dispute window closes, the image is automatically deleted.

IP address and device data

We log the IP address and user agent string at checkout, at sign-in, and on every page of the reader. This data is used to:

• Detect and prevent fraudulent purchases.
• Defend against chargebacks by demonstrating that the cardholder actually used the product.
• Watermark each rendered page of an ebook with the end customer's email and the access date for forensic trail.

Reading activity

When you read an ebook you've purchased, we record the same kind of session telemetry as for sellers: session start, last page, IP, user agent, per-page access timestamps. Used for the seller's sales analytics and for our platform-side abuse detection.

What we don't collect

• We don't use third-party advertising trackers.
• We don't sell or share your personal information with data brokers. We don't have an advertising business model.
• We don't collect health, biometric, or location data beyond IP-level geolocation.
• We don't track you across other websites. Our analytics are limited to actions inside Litstream Pro.

How long we keep your data

• Account records: as long as your account is active, plus 7 years after closure for tax and chargeback record-keeping.
• Payment records: 7 years (US tax retention).
• Photo IDs collected at checkout: 180 days from purchase, then auto-deleted.
• IP / user-agent logs: 18 months from event date.
• Reading-session telemetry: 18 months from event date.
• Email send logs: 24 months from send date.

Cookies

We use cookies for:

• Authentication. A signed session cookie keeps you logged in to your seller dashboard or your end-customer account. Required for the site to work.
• CSRF protection. A short-lived token prevents cross-site request forgery on state-changing requests. Required.
• Theme preference. Your light/dark theme preference is stored in localStorage, not a cookie.

We don't use third-party analytics or advertising cookies.

Sharing your data

We share information with the following third parties only as needed to run the platform:

• Webly Studio, Inc. - our payment partner. Webly operates the Stripe account that processes payments to Litstream Pro and our house stores, and acts as the Stripe Connect platform that onboards seller accounts.
• Stripe - payment processing for platform purchases and end-customer purchases, plus identity/KYC for connected seller accounts. They see card data; we don't.
• Resend - email delivery for receipts, broadcasts, and platform notifications. They see your email address and the message body for as long as it takes to deliver.
• Hostinger - the VPS provider that hosts our servers. They have no access to application data unless we explicitly share it for an incident.

We may also share information in response to a valid legal request (subpoena, court order), with notice to the affected user where lawful.

Your rights

You can:

• Access a copy of your data - email us and we'll send it within 30 days.
• Correct inaccurate data - update most of it directly in your dashboard or account page, or email us.
• Delete your account - sellers via support ticket, end customers via the account page on the storefront. Deletion is final; we retain only what we're legally required to keep (tax records, chargeback evidence).
• Opt out of marketing emails from sellers - click the unsubscribe link in any broadcast. One click; effective immediately. Transactional emails (receipts, magic-link sign-in) continue regardless of marketing preference.

Children

Litstream Pro is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, contact us at the address below and we'll delete the records.

International users

Our servers and our company are in the United States. If you're outside the US, your data crosses borders to reach us. By using the platform, you consent to that transfer. We haven't certified to any international transfer framework (Privacy Shield, SCCs) at this time.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top and notify active sellers by email. Continued use after a change means you accept the new policy.
